Here at Natives, we love retro vintage, Georges Clounet, cute cats and ugly dogs, good food, good drinks and good times with good friends!
Original French creations born from our small team’s fantabulous ideas!
Fuddy-duddies and buzz-kills, begone!
1996
This is the strange story of a biscuit which fell into a pot of epoxy paint – the kind for repairing windsurfing boards. There and then, the fallen baked good became a trendy vanguard knickknack. Then, market after market, from broaches to novelty hairclips, Grégory Deltour made his wholesale market debut.
1998
Gregory Deltour jumped from broaches to decorating accessories and founded Natives in Aix-en-Provence, in the South of France. Apéro, wordplay, and retro influence are the themes that Grégory presented for the first time at the Maison & Objets interior decorating trade fair in Paris. 492.23 miles later, after breaking down on the A7 motorway and nearly three hours spent setting up the stall (near the toilets); Natives found its first clients – and success!
2008
10 years later at the same trade fair, new bonds were formed! Audrey Théis entered Grégory Deltour’s professional and personal life! As for their products, two words: “Full Impact”. The creative duo blended retro-vintage deco and far-out catchphrases. The company’s style gave Natives a competitive edge and clients abounded, naturally!
2012
A Natives baby was born! Quality family time was in order for the creators. Grégory sold a majority stake in the company to the Prim’Style group, which owns several other big names on the home decorating market. Grégory, Audrey and their team still called the shots for Natives’ wacky product lines. Just as well!
2015
Just like a non-epoxy-dipped biscuit, the relationship with Prim’Style slowly broke apart. In view of the turmoil to come, the team welcomed new members, including Managing Director, Gauthier Deprez. 2015 was also the year the company moved into their brand new offices in Aubagne (still in Provence). Natives surfed the wave of retro vintage with more humour than ever before.
2016
After a few setbacks and sleepless nights, Grégory Deltour kept the momentum going and bought Natives back from Prim’Style with the help of Connect investment fund. This marked a fresh new start.
2017
The Natives website got a makeover, because there’s nothing better than a new look for a new beginning, . Better late than never, Natives is now on several social media sites and is (mega) excited for the road ahead!
